1. What is Korea Kaja?
Korea Kaja is a student recruitment service that helps international students apply to Korean universities for Korean language programs. We can assist you with applications, visa guidance, accommodation, and more! Korea Kaja is run by Lily (the Australian) and Lauren (the American), two good friends who have spent the past decade living in Korea, learning the language and being immersed in the culture. We are super passionate about helping others to make their Korea dreams come true!
2. Which universities do you work with?
We are currently working with Konkuk University, which has both short term programs and regular semester programs. We are hoping to work with more Korean universities moving forward, so if you have a specific university in mind, let us know, and we’ll see if we can help!
3. Who can apply for a Korean language program?
Anyone interested in learning Korean! Most universities accept applicants of all nationalities, and you don’t need prior knowledge of the Korean language. If you are interested in completing an undergraduate or graduate degree at a Korean university, a language program can help you to reach the necessary language skill level and in some cases guarantee you acceptance!
4. How do I apply for a Korean language program?
You can apply through Korea Kaja by contacting us. We’ll guide you through the process, including document submission, visa application, and preparation for your studies in Korea.
5. What documents do I need to apply? (for the regular program)
Most universities require:
A copy of your passport
High school or university diploma
Bank statement showing financial stability
Completed application form
Passport-sized photos*
Specific requirements may vary by university.
6. How long does the application process take?
For the general semester programs it typically takes 4–8 weeks, depending on the university and visa processing time. We recommend applying at least 3 months in advance.
For the short term programs (that don't require a visa) the application process should be complete in about a week!
7. Do I need a visa to study Korean in Korea?
If you are applying for a short-term language program you do NOT need a visa!
However, if you are interested in a regular semester program most students apply for a D-4 (language training) visa. We can guide you through the visa application process.

9. Can I work part-time while studying in Korea?

Tuition fees for Korean language programs range from ₩1,500,000–₩2,500,000 KRW ($1,100–$1,900 USD) per semester, depending on the university.
11. Are scholarships available for Korean language students?
Most scholarships are for degree programs, but some universities offer discounts for top-performing students. We’ll let you know if any options are available!
12. Where will I stay in Korea?
You can choose between:
University dormitories (affordable, convenient, but limited spots)
Off-campus housing (gosiwon, one-room apartments, share houses)
Korea Kaja can help you find suitable accommodation!
13. Do I need to know Korean before arriving?
No! The programs are designed for beginners, and many universities have English-speaking staff to assist you. If you want to study the basics before you arrive, we can help give you some tips and tricks to set you up for success. If you already know some Korean, you can test into a higher level class at the beginning of your program.
